German Embassy Chancery

Designed by German architect Egon Eiermann(1904-1970), this building,which opened in 1964, was perhaps the first foreign government building in Washington,DC to express its country’s architectural traditions(Bauhaus) and current tastes. It is also a sophisticated neighbor blending into its verdant landscape rather than visually clashing with its traditional brick residential neighbors.
